SharpFootballAnalysis.com has a report that to their claim, calls the Patriots out and claims they have been deflating footballs since 2007. They claim that prior to 2007 the Patriots went from 42 touches per fumble to 74 touches per fumble, so we obviously cheated, right?
Here’s where they are wrong, the Patriots prepare like no other team. The Patriots practice in the worst possible conditions with wet footballs when they know they are going to be playing in a game (even if it’s not raining in practice), they simulate game conditions and prepare their ball carriers like no other. When it’s raining outside, Belichick doesn’t move the team to the indoor practice field, he makes them prepare for the worst possible elements. Also, when you fumble on the Patriots, it’s a fact that you will be sitting your ass on the bench, just ask Steven Ridley. The basis of calling us cheaters and deflating footballs since 2007 is a total crock by this website which obviously did very little research prior to writing this article. Shit like this is simply a ploy to hop on the Patriots hating band wagon. In fact, look it up, the Patriots have only lead the NFL once since 2007 in the Average Fumbles Per Game stat. Does this mean every team ahead of them is deflating footballs too? While we are making bogus claims, they must be, right?
