2015 Red Sox season preview and projections

There’s nothing like the perfectly manicured grass splashed with Fenway Green to kick off the Spring in New England. Opening Day is that special time of year that we get to say F you Winter! Opening Day is right around the corner, finally, and with the season starting in less than a month, here is a look at the projected Red Sox lineup and projected numbers.  This is the way I see the lineup panning out going into opening day. Rusney Castillo is dealing with a strained oblique right now and that may cost him is job to start the season. Which certainly makes decision making a lot easier for now… Here are my season predictions and projections;

Projected lineup and Stats

1. shane-victorino-baseball-headshot-photo  Shane Victorino RF          .275 AVG, 10 HR, 50 RBI

2. 7631 Dustin Pedroia 2B            .285 AVG, 12 HR, 60 RBI

3. david-ortiz-baseball-headshot-photo David Ortiz DH                 .285 AVG, 32 HR, 95 RBI

5. download Pablo Sandoval 3B             .275 AVG, 18 HR, 75 RBI

6. images (1) Mookie Betts CF (for now).285 AVG, 8 HR, 45 RBI

7. images (2) Mike Napoli 1B                   .265 AVG, 22HR, 65 RBI

8. images (3) Xander Bogaerts SS          .265 AVG, 23 HR, 60 RBI

9. i Christian Vazquez C           .240 AVG, 6 HR, 40 RBI

The Sox certainly have plenty of options on players when it comes to the outfield. I think were going to see plenty of juggling early on in terms of finding the right pieces in the outfield, and don’t be surprised if we move a guy or two as well. I think Bogaerts is going to have a bust out year, hes showing great promise this Spring. Everything else is pretty cut and dry. Plenty of bats in this offence, this lineup is going to produce a lot of runs, its just a matter of what the rotation and bullpen can do…

Starting Rotation, I think Buccholz’s tenure is going to earn him the opening day start, but it’ll be interesting which Clay shows up this year.

This lineup should be good enough to win the weakened AL EAST. 88 wins for this team, lock it up, take it to Vegas. Come back in September and say I was right! The Yankees are going to be a very different looking team and I just don’t see them being competitive for the division. The ARod boo parade will be fun to watch city to city. The Rays I just don’t see being able to compete this year with the subtractions they’ve had. Baltimore I see returning to sub par as well next year.. This should be a pretty easy division win for the Sox..

BLUE JAYS      83-79

YANKEES         82-80
